Still riding the high of the monumental win against Australia at the Gabba on Sunday, Shamar Joseph has landed a deal at the Pakistan Super League (PSL), being signed up by Peshawar Zalmi.
Over the weekend, the 24-year-old Jospeh made his debut in the first Test of the two-match series, where he led the West Indies to their first Test win in Australia in 27 years.
The Baracara youth ran through Australia with a spell of 11.5-0-68-7, allowing for an eight-run win at the Gabba, Brisbane.
The West Indies fast bowler will now be joining the Pakistani franchise, replacing English fast bowler Gus Atkinson who is currently in India with the England Test squad for a five-match series that runs until March 11.
However, even after Atkinson returns, Joseph will remain with the franchise for the entirety of the tournament.
This announcement was made via social media, and not at the replacement and supplementary draft.
Initially during the draft, Zalmi announced the replacement of Afghan legspinner Noor Ahmed with Atkinson for the tournament due to Ahmed being unavailable.
Considering Atkinson will also be occupied at the time of the tournament, Zalmi announced via social media that Joseph will take his place.
The PSL starts on February 17 at the Gaddafi Stadium, and the final is scheduled for March 18 at the National Stadium in Karachi.
