Schoolgirl attacked, beaten unconscious by older brother

A 13-year-old schoolgirl is currently nursing wounds after being attacked by her allegedly mentally ill brother while walking home in Arau Village, Region Seven. 

Ranks of the Regional Police Division #7 are investigation the ‘serious wounding’ of the female student of Arau Village, Wenamu River, by her older brother, at about 06:30hrs today. 

Police reports state that the suspect has a ‘mental disorder’.  

Investigations revealed that while the schoolgirl was walking in the direction of her home, the suspect, armed with a piece of wood, attacked her.  

She was dealt several lashes to her back, head and face, resulting in her falling to the ground and becoming unconscious. 

Public-spirited persons came to the victim’s assistance and escorted her to the Arau Village Health Post. There, she was seen and examined before being referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further medical examination. 

The suspect is presently in custody at the Kaikan Police Station after being arrested by the local Community Policing Group.
