Sandy Babb street businesses given one month to correct Occupational Safety and Health Violations

Following the Minister’s vow to reduce workplace deaths and injuries, several establishments on Sandy Babb Street in Kitty, Georgetown were inspected yesterday, by the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Department of the Ministry of Labour. 

According to the Ministry of Labour, the different inspections were carried out by OSH Officers Ms. Delcina Small and Mr. Ray Hosannah, as well as Senior Occupational Safety and Health Officer Mr. Roydon Croal.   

The inspections involved making sure that the health and safety procedures, such as having clean toilet facilities and fire safety measures, were implemented. After the assessment, companies were given a month to remedy any violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, Chapter 99:06. They were also given a list of suggestions for establishing secure and healthy work environments and instructions on appropriate Occupational Safety and Health procedures.
