R Kissoon Contracting secures $69M Contract for major water supply upgrade in Kurukubaru

R Kissoon Contracting has won the contract for upgrading the Water Supply System in Kurukubaru, Region 8. The contract was signed between the Government of Guyana through the Basic Needs Trust Fund and the company on March 8, 2024. 

The Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF) is a development programme that is jointly funded by the Caribbean Development Bank and the Government of Guyana that provides access to basic public services for impoverished communities 

The project entails the construction of a deep water well, storage facilities, installation of a photovoltaic pumping system, transmission and distribution networks and solar powered standalone lights.  

Upon completion of the project, residents of the community will have access to potable water through a reticulation system. 

The contract was awarded for $69,990,816 Guyana dollars.
