On January 30, President Dr. Irfaan Ali committed to upcoming community development plants to improve the livelihoods of the residents of Ithaca, Bath, and Bush Lot, Region Five.
While listening to the concerns of the residents of these villages, the Head of State outlined a series of people-centered measures the PPP/C-led administration has already implemented.
At Ithaca, West Bank Berbice, President Ali pledged to rehabilitate the children’s recreational ground and enhance the basketball court. He also indicated that the Government would assist in the provision of resources for young residents to enter agricultural ventures.
After complaints were made by Bath residents over the limited pastures to rear cows, President Ali announced that farmers would receive access to over 1000 acres of land for cattle farming.
He also commanded that an oversight committee be set up to address social issues in the community.
At Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice, the Head of State pledged to address land transport issues within two months and will see that drainage issues in the community are resolved.
The Ministry of Public Works and Guyana Power and Light Inc. were instructed to fix faulty power poles and replace non-functioning streetlights promptly.
According to the President, these developmental works are extremely important in building sustainable and resilient communities.
