In two separate cases on Sunday, the Guyana Police Force made intelligence-led drug busts that resulted in them finding large quantities of marijuana, totaling 3,084 grams.

Between 07:30hrs and 09:15hrs on Sunday, January 28th, Police ranks in Division #3 received information that led them to Lot 463 Belle West, Canal #2, West Bank Demerara.

There, the ranks contacted two residents, Serene Wilson, an 18-year-old unemployed woman, and Romaul Armstrong, a 20-year-old Construction Worker.

Identifying themselves as policemen from the Leonora Police Station dressed in ‘plain clothing’, they requested to carry out a search of their person and premises for illegal items, to which the duo agreed.

The search of the home did not reveal anything of evidential value, but the ranks then observed a track leading to a bushy area to the southern side of the premises.

A blue barrel with a black cover was found in the bushes, and when opened, several black transparent plastic bags were found.

In the bags were a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems, which were suspected to be Cannabis.

The two residents, along with the barrel containing the suspected marijuana, were escorted to the Leonora Police Station.

When weighed, the narcotics amounted to 1133.4 grams. Both of the suspects denied knowing of the suspected Cannabis.

They remain in custody as the investigations continue.

Later that day, the ranks from the Grove Police Station, East Bank Demerara, conducted an intelligence-led operation at the home of Lukinovich Theobald, aka ‘Redman’.

At around 12:00hrs, the ranks arrived at Theobald’s home at Friendship Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara, and requested to search his person and premises for illegal items.

A search was then carried out on his home, but nothing of evidential value was found. The ranks then searched the well-fenced backyard, where they found one black plastic bag in a clump of bushes.

The bag contained three parcels of suspected marijuana wrapped in clear plastic.

Theobald was arrested and escorted, along with the narcotics, to the Grove Police Station, and then to the Narcotics Unit at Regional 4B Headquarters at Golden Grove. There, the suspected marijuana was weighed, and it amounted to 1,950 grams.

The suspect remains in custody while the investigation is ongoing.
