Construction and restaurant industries will continue to be the focus of workplace inspections by the Ministry of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Department.
Several workplaces located in Georgetown were visited yesterday, by several occupational safety and health officers. During their visit to the Monte Cristal construction site, they addressed “fall protection, workplace hazards, accident prevention, and reporting procedures.”
These inspections follow a recent press conference held by the Minister of Labour, Honourable Joseph Hamilton where he stated that his ministry is determined to “ensure that this fatality rate decreases,” and they plan to work with multiple facilities during 2024 to reverse this trend”
In a press release, the ministry assured that the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Department will continue its engagement with construction workers and contractors
