The Ministry of Labour today launched a mobile application called Labour Advice

Mr. Dhaneshwar Deonarine, Chief Labour Officer posited that the app’s purpose is to “give workers and employers a convenient, efficient and user-friendly tool to stay informed about their rights and seek assistance when necessary.”

Through the app, citizens across the country can have convenient access to advisory services and lodge disputes and complaints. However, persons can still visit the Ministry to seek advice and lodge complaints as the mobile application will not replace interpersonal communication with members of the public.

Minister of Labour, Hon. Joseph Hamilton highlighted his ministry’s achievements and increased visibility over the past four years during the launch.

“In the last, less than four years, through the work of the Chief Labour Officer and his officers, we have recouped over $160 million from employers, for employees.”

Moreover, Minister Hamilton encouraged persons with industrial relations matters to make use of the application and or visit the Ministry to have their concerns addressed rather than taking those concerns to social media.

The mobile application was developed by the Ministry of Labour in collaboration with the National Data Management Authority (NDMA). The app is available on Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
