Police ranks of the Essequibo Coast were conducting mobile patrol duties in Onderneeming/ Sand Pit, Essequibo Coast when they received ‘certain information’. This intelligence led them to a house in the area that was occupied by a 41-year-old miner who was known to the Police.

Upon seeing the Police, the Miner ran to the back of his house, carrying a bulky black bag.

Giving chase, the Police intercepted him inside a toilet about fifteen feet away from the house, with a black bag in his right hand.

The ranks searched the bulky black plastic bag and found a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems, all suspected to be marijuana.

The suspect was arrested and escorted to the Suddie Police Station, along with the narcotic substances, which amounted to 474 grams when weighed.

While in custody, he told the Police, “A rasta man gave me (the marijuana) to keep.”
