Wanted murder suspect Shaquawn Alleyne, aka ‘Iswe’ has confessed to investigators of the Guyana Police Force’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) that he had accidently killed his girlfriend. However, he stated he intentionally buried her in a shallow grave.
The murder suspect, who had been on the run for roughly three years, was detained in Suriname on Thursday and sent back to Guyana to face charges over the 2021 murder case.
On arrival, he was immediately escorted to the CID Headquarters, where, according to Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum, he confessed to the murder. Iswe also implicated the deceased’s younger sister in the disposal of her body.
Iswe alleged that the three of them were sitting in his living room when he had sent her then-15-year-old sister to fetch him his .38 revolver.
He stated that while cleaning the firearm, he pulled back the hammer and was pointing and waving it around. Allegedly, Dover cautioned him about his actions, however, his finger fell on the trigger and it went off.
“It wasn’t intentional act, it wasn’t premeditated,” said Alleyne.
Iswe told investigators “I see smoke in the living room and Shonette lying motionless with a wound in her forehead and blood coming out.”
“Me and (Dover’s sister” didn’t want the family to feel that pain knowing Shonette was dead, me and she came up with a plan not to let anyone know what happened, we then dug a hole and bury Shonette in the backyard and said we would tell everyone she leave for work and hasn’t come home back.”
Dover’s decomposing body was found in a shallow grave in Iswe’s backyard at Canvas City, Linden, Region 10 on April 29, 2021. This was some 28 days after she went missing. During this time, her boyfriend pretended to be deeply moved by Dover’s disappearance, duping both her relatives and the Police. It was alleged that at the time, Alleyne even assisted in the search for Dover before his disappearance.
The younger sister caved in during interrogation, and led Police to her sibling’s grave, telling them that she was shot by her then-boyfriend. The sister was charged, however, Alleyne escaped capture.
He told CID ranks that upon learning that the sister had been arrested for questioning, he “beat out to Suriname”, after selling his gun to a man in Linden.
