EU-TAIEX delegation engages Guyana on health resilience and pharmaceutical potential

A delegation from the European Union Technical Assistance and Information Exchange (EU-TAIEX) met with the Head of the Guyana Office for Investment and Chief Investment Officer, Dr Peter Ramsaroop 

“Enabling factors for pharmaceutical production in Guyana, the availability of facilities and skilled workforce, and the incentives available to encourage investment” in the health sector were among the issues discussed. Moreover, health resilience and vaccine production in Guyana were the primary focus of the meeting. 

Guyana’s capabilities in relation to these two areas were delineated by Dr Ramsaroop. 

The visiting team comprised Ms Gytis Andrulionis, Mr Lorenzo Montrasio and Mr Danie Ferandez from the State Medicine Control Agency in Lithuania, Family, Natality and Equal Opportunity from the Italiam Medicine Agency (AIFA) and the Division of Biologicals, Advance and Biotechnology at the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Products (AEMPS) in Spain, respectively. 

Guyana has been on the receiving end of significant interest from investors and multilateral agencies, venture capitalists etc. since the discovery of oil and being named the fastest growing economy in the world.
