On January 31, Top Cop Clifton Hicken, along with Deputy Commissioner ‘Administration’ Calvin Brutus, and Force Training Officer Superintendent Sonia Herbert, among other members of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), recently visited the Guyana Police Force Academy to inspect the ongoing rehabilitation and infrastructure work.
Commissioner Hicken, eager to witness the completion of the project, noted that the work on the Academy is near completion, and is expected to be finalized by Friday, February 2, 2024.
The project is to be completed ahead of the commencement of the Senior and Junior Officers’ Courses on Monday, February 5.
According to the Top Cop, the Academy is almost ready to welcome a new generation of leaders, and the courses presented there will impart invaluable knowledge and skills. It is also expected to foster a sense of unity and purpose among the participants.
Among the updates made to the facilities, the Barrack rooms were refurbished to provide a more comfortable environment for the officers and were adorned with modern amenities.
Additionally, the Academy now features a newly built swimming pool, a gym, and a state-of-the-art classroom.
This new dynamic environment is expected to equip the training officers with the tools they need to excel in their profession.
