Two Businesses were moments ago demolished by a massive fire in Springlands, Corentyne, Upper Berbice.
Mahendra Persaud, 54 of No.75 Village, Upper Corentyne, Berbice, is the owner of the upholstery company where the fire is said to have started. After sweeping through his two-story wooden building, the fire spread to the Ritz Hotel and Restaurant next door, destroying much of the property. The Ritz Hotel and Restaurant is owned by Kamaldeo Othra of Springlands.
According to reports, Persaud was working when he noticed smoke seeping out of his storehouse. He promptly alerted the Guyana police and fire department, who arrived shortly after.
As the inquiry continues, more information is becoming available.
