Police are investigating a chopping and shooting incident that occurred at a well-known nightclub, Onyx Lounge, on Pitt Street, New Amsterdam in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident left three persons injured: Danzel Amsterdam, 28; Akquy Henry, 28, of Glasgow New Housing Scheme, East Bank Berbice; and Troyden Trellis, also called ‘Old Boy’

Investigations revealed that the men were imbibing at the nightclub when an argument ensued, resulting in the alleged chopping and shooting. Amsterdam was reportedly chopped to the head, while Henry was chopped to the face and sustained gunshot injuries to the head and back.

Trellis, whose injuries were not accounted for, was admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital along with Henry. Amsterdam also visited the facility but was treated and sent away.

It was alleged that a 26-year-old unemployed man from Stanleytown, New Amsterdam had taken away the firearm from a man during the incident at Pitt Street.

The ranks of Regional Division #6 visited his home on Sunday and were able to retrieve the firearm from a clump of bushes. The weapon was found with an empty magazine.

The firearm was dusted for latent prints, photographed, marked, and lodged.

The investigations are ongoing.
