Haimchand Takram, called ‘Coolie Boy’, was charged on Wednesday, January 24th, with the offences of ‘Sexual Activity with a Child Family Member’, contrary to Section 16 (3)(a) of the Sexual Offences Act, Chapter 8:03.
The 60-year-old Businessman of La Belle Alliance, Essequibo Coast is accused of committing the act on a child from the Essequibo Coast, between September 1st, 2022, and September 30th, 2022.
A paper committal was held before Magistrate Esther Sam at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court
There, it was ruled that based on the Statements and Exhibits tendered before the court, there is enough evidence for the accused to stand trial at the next practicable session at the Suddie Supreme Criminal Court.
Bail was granted in the sum of $500,000.
