Police ranks from Regional Division #6, Special Branch and members of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) conducted an intel-lead raid exercise earlier this week at the home of Jagdeo Ramdass and his spouse, of Crabwood Creek, Corentyne Berbice, during which they found suspected ecstasy, cocaine and marijuana.
During a search of premises, the ranks found a plastic bag with 81 zip-lock packets containing tablet-like substances, which were suspected to be ecstasy.
The ranks also reporting finding suspected cocaine and marijuana substances.
Possession of cocaine is illegal in Guyana, and the possession of large quantities of marijuana can lead to jail time.
The possession of cocaine Ecstasy was added to the list of banned substances in 2021, and is now illegal to possess without a specific license.
All persons found in possession of either of the three drugs are to be charged according to Guyanese law, and prosecuted accordingly.
Ramdass, along with his wife were arrested and taken to Springlands Police Station, where they were placed in custody.
The man admitted knowledge of the marijuana but denied knowledge of the suspected cocaine or the suspected ecstasy.
The investigation is continuing.
