Allegedly intoxicated man mauled to death by pitbull dogs

Sixty-four-year-old Latchminen Permaul called “Blackboy” of Lot 249 Hampshire Topoo, Corentyne Berbice, was mauled to death on Tuesday, January 18th at around about 04:00 hours, at Topoo Village Corentyne Berbice, by three mix breed dogs.

According to his wife, Sandra Permaul, 61, on Monday at about 17:00 hours her husband left home and went to a liquor shop in Topoo. There, he allegedly consumed alcohol and he became intoxicated.

She stated Latchminen was on his way home when he stopped to lay at the street corner around 05:00 hours on Tuesday.

While at home the woman said she received information from her son Yoganand Permaul, 35, Lot 249 Hampshire Topoo, Corentyne Bebice, that he was walking up the street when he saw one “Avinash”, who resides right next to the street where Latchminen was lying.

Yoganand stated that three pit bull dogs bore out of his fence and bit his father up who was lying on the ground.

Police were made aware of the situation, and upon their arrival at the scene the victim’s body was examined.

What appeared to be dog bites were seen on both of the victim’s legs, right hip and right hand. In addition to this, Permaul’s entire neck was eaten out.

The victim’s body was picked up and escorted to Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.

The remains were thereafter escorted to Ramoo Funeral home, awaiting a post-mortem examination.

A 35-year-old man of Topoo Village Corentyne Berbice, the owner of the three dogs, was arrested and escorted to the Albion Police Station. There, he was placed into custody, pending investigation
