Survivors of the deadly Bell 412 Helicopter crash in good spirits with no significant injuries

Lieutenant Andio Crawford and Corporal Dwayne Jackson, the survivors of the deadly Bell 412 Helicopter crash are reported to be in good spirits, good general health with no significant injuries. This was disclosed at a press conference today by GDF medical officer Lieutenant Colonel Nigel Langhorne.  

The two survivors of the crash were flown to the city yesterday for further medical checks and were greeted at the Eugene F Correia Airport by His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, Army Chief of Staff Brigadier Omar Khan, top brass of the Guyana Defence Force and tearful family members. 

The medical officer stated that special forces medics once inserted into the area of the crash site spent the night with the two survivors and provided first aid and general support. Prior to being flown to the city, a medical staging area was set up at Blakeslater Airstrip where the two officers underwent additional medical checks.

 

It was revealed at the press conference that some sixty (60) persons were involved in the search and rescue mission and the search and rescue team are scheduled to be extracted today. 

The GDF Bell 412 Helicopter went missing on Wednesday morning 30 miles from Arau. Retired Brigadier Gary Beaton, Colonel Michael Shahoud, Lieutenant Colonel Sean Welcome, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Charles and staff Sergeant Jason Khan lost their lives in the crash that has plunged the nation into mourning.
