On June 6, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) held a pivotal meeting with the Institute of Private Enterprise Development (IPED) to discuss a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing capacity-building initiatives and facilitating access to finance for its members. This collaboration seeks to provide robust support to micro and small businesses, which are crucial drivers of the local economy.
The meeting was attended by key representatives from both organizations. Mrs. Evie Kanhai-Gurcharan, Chairperson of the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Committee, and Ms. Melisa George, Secretary of the GCCI, represented the Chamber. IPED’s delegation included Chief Executive Officer Mr. Jagdesh Haripershad and Business Development/Marketing Manager Mr. Robert Williams.
Discussions focused on delivering targeted training programs and offering low-interest financing options, aimed specifically at micro and small enterprises. These initiatives align with GCCI’s ongoing mission to stimulate trade, boost investment, and create more opportunities for its members.
Mrs. Kanhai-Gurcharan emphasized the importance of these efforts, stating, “Our goal is to equip our members with the necessary skills and financial resources to thrive in today’s competitive market. This partnership with IPED is a significant step towards achieving that.”
Mr. Haripershad highlighted IPED’s commitment to supporting small businesses, noting that accessible financing and comprehensive training are critical components for sustainable growth.
This collaboration underscores GCCI’s dedication to fostering a supportive business environment and enhancing the capabilities of local entrepreneurs.
